The name Goričko comes from the Slovene word for vineyard. That is what the locals call the hills that were formed from the Pannonian Sea long ago. Although not very far from large European cities, "progress" has bypassed Goričko, preserving an image typical for Central Europe before the Second World War. But if it was until recently thought of as a handicap, it has now turned out to be an advantage. Vineyards, orchards, meadows and fields, scattered like a mosaic upon the landscape, harmoniously intertwine with and complement the old settlements, hamlets and individual farms A unique look into a simpler time.

The spring is located near the village of Nuskova. Its mineral water contains an abundance of iron that turns the spring and surrounding stones a reddish color, which indicates the exceptional quality of the water.

The Gjerkeš family focuses on cultivating traditional local varieties such as Welsh Riesling, Rhein Riesling, chardonnay, yellow muscat and pinot gris. In the courtyard under the old linden tree, we will taste top quality wines and listen to stories of wine, Goričko and Prekmurje.

When visiting the beekeeping farm, we will find out all about the bee family, the queen, wax and honey. You will also get an opportunity to see the opening of a hive and experience the fascinating bees at work first hand.

It is the most extensive castle complex in Slovenia with 365 rooms with huge cellars and dungeons. In the vicinity of the settlement, there is an abundance of basaltic tuff, which was the material used for the construction of the largest castles in Slovenia.

The “Prekmurska Gibanica” is probably the most famous culinary delicacy of the Prekmurje region. At one of the local tourist farms, we will learn how to prepare it ourselves.
